The Torrevieja region is rated by the World Health Organisation as one of the healthiest places to live in the world. Partly because of the sunshine, but also because of the two huge natural salt lakes within 2 kilometers of the town centre. These salt lakes draw moisture from the air resulting in an extremely low humidity level. It compares favourably with the Costa's to the South - del Sol, which has a higher rainfall, and Calida which can be windy.

The climate is of course beneficial permitting an outdoor life for much of the year. The benefits to sufferers of arthritis, rheumatism, allergies and skin complaints have been well documented over the years.

Most of Torrevieja's beaches have been awarded the coveted blue flag for cleanliness and freedom from pollution. Other beaches, to the north and to the south of the town are similarly approved. So if swimming in the clear blue Mediterranean is your cup of tea, you won't find a better and safer place to do it.

The town itself is typically Spanish. There are many sea front cafes and restaurants to choose from and an abundance of shops.

In and around the area there are three golf courses that are of championship standard, Villa Martin, Las Ramblas and Campoamar. These are all within a ten minute drive of our property. The world renowned La Manga complex is a thirty minute drive round the Marmenor (Inland sea). This complex boasts three 18-hole courses.

A final word about the climate, you can expect 300 days sunshine throughout the year and less than 30 days rain. Put another way 25 days in every month are sunny!

Our apartment is situated in a small urbanisation called La Florida, which is a balance of year round residents and holiday homes alike.

La Florida phase two is a small urbanisation set inland five minutes drive from the coast. It is one of a number of communities in the area. Our holiday home occupies a ground floor corner position with six steps leading to a dining terrace immediately outside the door - perfect for early morning coffee.

Below the terrace is an L shaped patio garden, which is ideal for those balmy evenings and al fresco dining. There is also ample space for sun loungers, all garden furniture is provided. The location of the garden is very secluded but yet only a matter of a few paces away is a beautiful swimming pool solely for the use of residents and generally is very quiet. Almost everyone's garden has a variety of flora and fauna including palm trees, lemon trees, cacti and bougainvillea giving a sub tropical effect within the gardens.

The complex is gated and lit for your security and therefore you will not find people ambling through, therefore night time is very tranquil lending itself to a good nights sleep.
